ADC Wihabo: Long-Term Collabs for Scalability
ADC is a comprehensive provider of print, plot, sign, and press services. ADC's range includes everything from cards and brochures to gift products and promotional materials like banners and advertising boards. With a team of 255 employees spread across four locations (over 15,000 square meters of production space) in the Netherlands, ADC produces everything in-house.
"ADC Wihabo, formerly known as Wihabo, has been one of ADC's three production locations since June 2023," says Leon van Erp, Project Manager at ADC Wihabo. The need for a configuration tool was already evident at the Geffen-based digital printing house in 2021. "Due to various paper types and sizes, finishing options, packaging and shipping options, determining prices and communicating production limitations was quite challenging. That's why we entered into collaboration with Elfsquad and have since developed our own configuration model."
The acquisition of Wihabo by ADC in June 2023, expanding the range of configurable signage and printing products, emphasized the importance of a configurator even more. Leon explains, "With Elfsquad, we calculate prices, indicate production limitations, and can clearly communicate the offerings to the customer. The customer stays informed about their available options in real-time, without the need for constant human intervention."
"At the moment, we use a configuration model for ADC Wihabo for singular products, products that we can print on a single sheet. Through integration with our API, where customers automatically place orders, more than 300,000 configurations were invoked in 2023. We aim to make this configuration model available to all our customers in the future, making the ordering process easier and allowing end customers to configure products themselves."
Leon highlights ADC's active commitment to the continuous development of Elfsquad. "We are working on expansions, such as adding a model for products with multiple components. We also plan to incorporate production options from the locations in 's-Hertogenbosch and Barendrecht into the configurator soon. We make careful choices to keep the model from becoming too complex; it must remain manageable for us and the customer, especially if the model is to be used by end customers. The product configuration must be not only functional but also user-friendly."
Leon invites companies facing similar challenges to reach out: "We are always open to a brainstorming session where we can inspire and support each other in creating an even more comprehensive configuration model."
